Our History

St. George Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, Sudbury was founded through the prayers, vision, and dedication of Orthodox faithful families seeking a spiritual home in Northern Ontario. The initiative began in 2022 through the efforts of Mr. Moby Varghese, with the spiritual guidance and support of Rev. Fr. Vineeth.

With the blessings of His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Diocesan Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese, the congregation celebrated its first Holy Qurbana on December 16, 2023, attended by faithful families from across the region.

Through God's grace and the warm support of the Coptic Orthodox community in Sudbury, the congregation found a place to worship and continue its spiritual journey. Since then, regular Holy Qurbana services have been held every third Saturday, along with celebrations for Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter.

Today, St. George MOSC Sudbury continues to grow as a vibrant Orthodox Christian community rooted in faith, fellowship, and service to God.
